History

Cozy Point Ranch is an historic 135 year old Colorado landmark which offers a year round equestrian center and Summer Camp program, Camp Cozy Point, for locals and visitors alike. With the valley’s largest indoor heated arena, two outdoor arenas and access to several miles of trails, the ranch provides many choices for beginning through advanced riders.

Cozy Point Ranch is a 170 acre horse ranch located at the confluence of the Roaring Fork River and Brush Creek in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley. The Ranch is 6 miles NW of Aspen between the communities of Snowmass Village and Woody Creek. The land, which is designated as public open space, is owned by the City of Aspen and consists of approximately 60 acres of flat irrigated hay meadow & pasture, 30 acres of equestrian facilities with the balance in wooded hillsides of Pinion, Juniper and Sage.

The ranch lies on a wide bench above the Roaring Fork River at an elevation of 7500 feet with views of the 14,000 foot Elk Mountains to the south and the Sawatch Range, including Independence Pass to the north and east.

Recent acquisitions of adjacent property by Pitkin County Open Space and Trails have added thousands of acres of spectacular back country trails and boundless wilderness access to the property. Conservation easements by Aspen Valley Land Trust insure that these lands will remain unchanged in perpetuity.

Facilities

The equestrian facilities consist of an infrastructure to accommodate approximately 100 horses in 29 indoor heated stalls, 19 small paddocks, 4 larger shared paddocks, some with sheds, and two large pastures for mares and geldings.

There is an 85 x 235 foot indoor heated arena and two outdoor arenas, 150 x 270 feet and 65 x 150 feet. The Ranch also contains employee housing units for four families and has one of the oldest intact historic barns of the late 1800’s in the valley.

We grow all of our own hay on Cozy Point Ranch or neighboring properties in the Upper Roaring Fork Valley.
